Revelator coffee Company on Market Street in Chattanooga is probably the “coolest” coffee shop that I’ve ever been to.
Before We Begin - The Definition
According to a quick Google search (because that's what millennials do), a revelation is defined as
"a surprising and previously unknown fact, especially one that is made known in a dramatic way."
So, their name Revelator is derived from the word revelation. Which makes sense because as I've been writing the blog post, my spell check is pointing out that revelator isn't a "real" word.
Walking into Revelator coffee, I was struck with how cold-toned industrial hipster it was. Which was suprising because most hipster coffee shops are warm toned with bricks and wood and warm colors (red, orange, yellow). However, this place had cool tones (blue and grey) with clean concrete and light wood. So it was cold… but still very inviting. Wow, this place is hard to describe with words. Just look out the photos instead.
Close your eyes and hear a positive murmur mixed with soft music resulting in an un-distracting and pleasant white noise. This place is just so simple and clean. There’s not much to be distracted by… unless you’re a photographer in love with how clean and bright this place is. (Dude, this place was so pretty I took a photo of the floor). This is where I want to go when I need to read or think through something tough because it’s the perfect place for a clean, uninterrupted thought process (again, unless you're a photographer).

"Make it simple.
Make it memorable.
Make it interesting to look at.
Make it fun to read."

This is the only place that I had enough time to re-visit. The first time Mary (my sister-in-law) and I each got an iced tea not realizing that one order gives you two cups.. So we hydrated with 4 refreshing cups of iced tea. I would tell you exactly what kind of tea it was… but forgive me because I can’t remember.
The second time was a pop-in-on my way out of town. That time I challenged the barista and asked for a cold drink, with some coffee, but it was 2pm and I didn’t want to stay up all night, and I wanted something new. He hit the mark and made me an iced latte that tasted like snicker doodle honey-nut cherrios! YUM. It fulfilled my craving perfectly.
Upon checking out their website, I found out that they're actually based out of Birmingham. So, if you live in Birmingham check them out for me! Revelator has a fantastic social media presence that definitely appeals to the hipster demographic, but the shop is welcoming to the non hipster as well. Go check out their admirable social media with the following links.
